K/1 Physical
Education
Physical education will provide experience in movement,
exploration and development of fundamental skills needed to progress
successfully in physical activity settings.
- Locomotive movement—walk, jog, run, hop, jump, skip, leap, gallop and slide
- Manipulative skills—throw, catch, strike, dribble, kick, roll and jump rope
- Fitness—introduction to Fitnessgram assessment
- Movement and spatial awareness—movement and spatial awareness, positional vocabulary
- Parachute
- Non-locomotor—balance
- Sportsmanship—personal responsibility, teamwork, effort and positive/appropriate interaction with others
Learning Targets—what specifically will the students
be learning in physical education.
Locomotive movement
- Students will be able to walk, run, jog, hop, jump, leap, skip, gallop and slide with proper form.
- Students will understand the vocabulary and be able to perform the movement.
Manipulative skills
- Students will be able to throw underhand by stepping with the opposite foot, pendulum swing with arm back and follow through with arm straight toward the intended target.
- Students will be able to demonstrate proper catching form by locating the object, adjusting their body and catching with their hands.
- Students will be able to dribble with their hands and keep the ball at waist height by using their fingertip pads to push the ball down or they will be able to dribble with their feet using the instep of their foot to maintain control of the ball.
- Students will be able to role a ball by bending their knees, pendulum are swing and a follow through so that the ball does not bounce.
- Students will earn a variety of health or fitness related concepts that may include: fitness components, nutrition and personal safety.
- The students will begin to learn and demonstrate the proper form of the fitnessgram tests including: push-ups, curl-ups, sit and reach, trunk life and the pacer test.

space concepts.
- Students will be able to work cooperatively to perform the specific parachute activities.

non-locomotor movements such as stretching, bending, twisting and turning.

- Students will demonstrate good sportsmanship by demonstrating a positive attitude, encouraging others and assisting others during all class activities.
